Stop The Giveaways

AFSCME

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

You hear it too often in Washington, and we’re just plain sick of it.

“We have to cut programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to reduce the federal deficit.”

The truth is, our tax system is rigged with wasteful tax giveaways that benefit the richest Americans and big corporations — handouts that are subsidized by cutting back on vital programs that most Americans rely on.

Sign our petition to tell Congress: Stop the giveaways to the rich and big corporations.
No cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Sign the Petition

Wasteful tax loopholes and giveaways allow corporations to get huge tax breaks. In fact, many pay no federal income taxes at all. In addition, the super rich pay lower tax rates than most working families.

So when you hear that tired line, “we need to cut programs to reduce the federal deficit,” what lawmakers are really saying is that we need to cut programs that the middle class relies on in order to subsidize tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthiest Americans.

That’s why it makes us so sick. And why we need you to sign the petition today.

Help us reach 10,000 signatures on our petition to Congress and we'll deliver them to make sure that your voice is heard – loud and clear – in Washington.

Congress is gearing up for a fight over the deficit and our budget in the coming weeks. It’s up to us to let them know that people like you demand corporations and the rich pay their fair share before any cuts to vital programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are ever considered.

Thanks for taking action today, and for everything you do to fight for strong public services and the middle class.

In solidarity,

Lee Saunders
